This traditional diptych is shaped like the Russian cathedrals of old, and features the same time-honored craftsmanship. Richly colored imagery of the Virgin of Vladimir and Christ the Teacher, or Christ Pantocrator is accented by gold foiled detailing and beautiful geometric shapes characteristic of Eastern iconography.

Tradition holds that the Virgin of Vladimir was painted by St. Luke and eventually sent to Russia by the Byzantine Emporer in the 1100s. The miraculous icon protected Moscow from military attacks and is a beloved image and devotion of the Eastern Church. Christ Pantocrator, the Teacher, holds the Gospels as the First Teacher of our Faith.
